It’s been a while since i posted last, a few weeks actually. Believe it or not, i have been collecting so many thoughts in my mind but i was experiencing a huge creative block ever since then. My mind has been wandering a lot! I certainly have a lot of reasons behind the constant wandering and thats what has made its hard to sit still and write things down.
To be honest, i have so many mindful thoughts and real experiences that i would like to share with you all on a much consistent basis, but i myself lack a streak of motivation sometimes. I am sure you can understand 🙂 happens with all of us!
Ever since i have been staying at home and spending most of the time with me, myself & I, one of the biggest lessons that life has taught me is how important it is to always “Follow your heart or follow your passion“.
A lot of people connect with me on Instagram telling me how much they admire what i share, write or even wear. Not only it makes me happy but makes me believe strongly about what i am trying to share with you all today. I have been noticing a similar pattern in my replies to almost all of these people. I always told them that I “follow my heart” in everything i do. Whether it is decorating a corner of our apartment or re-arranging things or even deciding what to wear, i do everything with my heart or i don’t do it at all! I don’t really know if that’s a “Libra” thing because Librans are usually very passionate about the littlest of little things or its just something i have learnt over the years. It is important to do things whole heartedly with passion, have a good time enjoying it & follow your heart, always!
What happened to Hobbies?
Gone are the days when “Hobbies” are supposed to be a form of self-expression through the activities one likes to indulge in and a creative way of connecting with like-minded people. It was something that added more meaning to our mundane, boring lives and making survival much better.
Today most of our mind & energy is sucked up chasing all kinds of things and mindlessly scrolling through Facebook and Instagram feeds. We give more importance to superficial forms of self expression such as beauty/makeup or branded clothes rather than focusing on one’s mental & physical well being . Most of us seem to call mindless scrolling through social media or watching a few episodes of Netflix as Hobbies but they are not, most definitely not! They are activities for passing free time or may be wasting if that’s all you do. For sure they entertain us after a long hectic day at work but they are not something that brings out the passion in us.
“Hobbies”, quite simply, are activities that you pursue to make yourself happy.
The things you do that stops you from procrastinating about how boring or mundane your life has become.
The things you do for your “own” self, own happiness, own passion.
The things you do out of enthusiasm and entertainment, without having any goals attached to it.
So really, When was the last time you did something out of “Passion”? Or just to enjoy your free time doing an activity?
Coming from a personal experience, ever since i had to leave my job due to visa issues and had to stay at home, I have been trying to focus on things that really makes my heart happy, amidst of all the negativity of having a midlife crisis. There was a time when i was stuck with no where to go or nothing to do, it was not only hard to cope up with what was going on in life but was also quite difficult to see the brighter side. I didn’t know where to start or what to do with all this time. But slowly & steadily, i found myself indulging in a lot of different activities throughout the day that not only keeps me occupied but has also helped me feel calm & stress free mentally and to focus on enjoying the real essence of life . I feel thats the whole point of having a Hobby, right?
From Yoga in the morning to Painting, Blogging & writing articles, taking pictures, Gardening, decorating little corners of the apartment to little DIY projects, there’s a lot i do to satisfy my urge for living a creative life. I am sure there are things that you would like to do too, the things you keep saying you want to pursue “when you have more time”, you just have to sit down and actually do it! Time doesn’t wait for anyone, and you will never be this young again, what you have is “NOW”.
If you think you don’t know where to begin, ask yourself what makes you happy? Does chasing people, materialistic things or wasting time on social media or binge watching Netflix brings joy to you? Or do you really want to make this one life count and spend you days doing things for yourself.
What happened to doing something just for the sake of enjoying it? Or for the joy of doing it?
Are you wasting time on things you don’t even like that much?
The answer isn’t hard to find, what difficult is to make time for things. Whether it is 30 mins of your day or a few hours, whether it is after work or over the weekends, make a plan to incorporate hobbies into your life. I request you to think about the things that makes your soul happy. The things you keep saying you want to pursue “when you have more time.” 🙂
I hope you enjoyed reading 😇 and found some kind of inspiration in trying to find your passion. The creative things that we choose to do in our lives are our calling, they are meant for us and they certainly help us get closer to our higher purpose. Don’t stop pursuing anything just because its difficult.
