I often try to start my blog posts with either a warm “welcome” or a cool “hi again” but i feel neither of these fit with the topics i talk about, don’t you think? Usually because, i don’t write to write stuff, i write to share a true experience or a lesson learnt in life that helped me outgrow some of the real issues related to fear & anxiety and share my journey with the world hoping to brighten someone’s day with it. I often start with some serious questions asked, aspiring that you guys will get some answers at the end of the post.
But anyways, a warm welcome to who so ever is reading this post! 🙂 I hope you enjoy my insights about life!
A year ago, I was in an entirely different state of mind, i was going through a myriad of different emotions as well as health issues, i was anxious all the time, feared about everything life was throwing at me. The one and only reason i was so worried and agitated, was because i was overly concerned about future. The “future” that is unforeseeable, the “future” that is uncertain, the “future” that has a tendency to change with time, depending upon our actions & decisions towards life. Yeah, i am talking about that future, no one has seen yet!
And while i was so busy day dreaming about this perfect thing called “future”, which mostly involved a perfect job, a perfect body, less stress, more laughter and a happy life, i was literary missing the one thing that makes all of this! Any guesses? Let me help you! I was missing on “LIFE“. Yes! i was missing on life big time, watching it pass by from days to months and almost a year! And i was just there, having no clue about it. 😕
Look around yourself, what do you see? Life passing by through days, weeks and months and you feel lost? Relationships; some broken, some as blessings. Struggles, stress, health issues, professional obstacles…and so on.
Now look inside yourself, what do you see? Fear (of innumerable things, situations that were held in past or going to be held in future), Anxiety, depression, insomnia, anger issues, and may be more?
Reminded me of a quote that makes absolute sense to what i am talking about:
“If you are depressed you are living in the past.
If you are anxious you are living in the future.
If you are at peace you are living in the present.” ― Lao Tzu
LIFE IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!
Yes right now! You may realize it or not, but life is really happening right now as we connect through this virtual machine. With this post i want to spread the message that it’s really a matter of time watching your life pass by you if all your focus is on your goals or bigger aspects of life. Not that i am deterring their importance, goals and dreams are certainly the most important aspect of living a fulfilling life, but an insatiable desire to have more or constantly striving from one goal to another, leaves us nothing but down-hearted and discontented.
We often feel excited about the next big thing that’s coming our way, be it a wedding, a new job, a new opportunity and so-on, but life is really what happens in between these big moments, that we often neglect trying to catch up on the big ones.
We tend to think of our life as a passage of time, but in real essence, life is just a collection of moments and a long string of memories.
ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS
So when life in its true sense, is nothing but a infinite circle of moments & experiences, i guess the question here is why are we so focused on the destination rather than enjoying the journey itself?
Appreciate everything that’s happening right now in your life, and live in the moment. Just as each day has its own joys, each day also has its own struggles. When we ignore the little things that make our days better and forget to be grateful for each of them, we welcome more struggles in life, believe it or not! It is so important to have a positive outlook and to be grateful of every little thing that helps you reach closer to your destination.
Stop and enjoy the little things that life has to offer you:
Take a walk in the park or a spring field.
Jump into the pool on a hot dry day.
Take a long walk on the beach, barefoot and breathing in the fresh ocean air.
Go and pick up your fresh flowers.
Enjoy being lazy on a weekend and cook yourself a great meal.
Have a cup of tea with no questions asked.
Start a new hobby, express your creativity.
Spend time with your family/ friends, play a game together.
Lay in bed all day and read a good book.
It’s the little things that matters. Whatever you enjoy in life, do a little more of it and savor those little moments.
A WALK IN THE MEADOW
I saw this beautiful field of meadows nearby our house and absolutely couldn’t control myself but to walk through it. The time is now, the moment is now, these tiny flowers that are blooming today putting a smile on faces such as mine, might not be there tomorrow. Life is happening right now, in front of you, take a deep breath and grasp these little bundles of joy!
I promise a lot of the issues related to fear, anxiety, stress and more will eventually mind their own way once you start making the most of your present moment and enjoy life as it comes to you, no strings attached!
Your life is right now! It’s not later!
It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here.
